Construction Safety Officer

Position Overview

We are looking for a dedicated Construction Safety Officer to join our team. Candidates must consistently convey professional judgement, excel in safety management and be able to assist with miscellaneous skilled labour when not performing safety duties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for executing Beedie HS&E programs in all types of situations (project start-up, duration and close out) on our job sites
  • Promoting a culture of job site safety, where safety is a shared responsibility
  • Preparing site safety plans, conducting hazard assessments, incident investigations and risk assessments, as required
  • Ensuring all accidents, incidents and injuries are properly reported to all appropriate parties
  • Facilitating and participating in site inspections, and implementing corrective action as required
  • Regularly monitoring safety compliance of workers and sub-contractors
  • Conducting safety meetings and toolbox talks
  • Maintaining and preparing thorough documentation and reports
  • Assisting with labour duties and site maintenance, as required
  • Keeping management updated on issues that arise
  • Administering first-aid as necessary
  • Performing other duties as assigned

Education and Experience

  • Certified Construction Safety Officer (CSO) or (NCSO) designation
  • Minimum of 2 years Health and Safety experience
  • Minimum Occupational First Aid Level II (OFA 2)
  • Can lift up to 50 lbs and perform other physically demanding duties
  • Good knowledge of WorkSafe BC regulations, policies, guidelines and standards
  • Proactive in identifying hazards and implementing corrective measures
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Able to commute to any of our site locations throughout the Metro Vancouver area
