Building Maintenance and Repair Specialist

This unique position would suit a trade person who is a ‘jack-of-all-trades’ as it involves a wide range of duties. Under the direction of the Property Management Superintendent you will receive daily work assignments and direction. Responsibilities are performed both independently, as well as, with the rest of the Property Management team. This position interacts daily with building tenants, venue renters, service providers, trades, neighbors and the public. 

Key Responsibilities: 


  • Demolition of existing tenant improvement
  • Reconnect existing plugs, switches and lights during demolition stages
  • Read and interpret blueprints
  • Respond to tenant requests and troubleshoot building issues
  • Erect steel stud walls
  • Assist with drywall installation
  • Assemble and install office furniture
  • Reinstall flooring
  • Paint and patch interior and exterior buildings
  • Cleanup space and transport debris to the dump


  • Understand and be proficient at the construction of concrete forms, footings, retaining walls and stairs
  • Understand footing, slab and underground layout processes, including selecting materials planning sequences and methods of work
  • Assemble and install door and window frames
  • Cut and install baseboards and door casings


  • Install and adjust locks and door closures
  • Install t-bar ceiling grid and ceiling tile
  • Conduct minor plumbing repairs
  • Water plants for various buildings
  • Pressure wash building exterior areas as required
  • Additional duties as required 

Desired Skills and Experience: 

  • At least 5 years of work experience in renovation, TI, and carpentry work
  • Level 1 first aid is an asset as is boom/scissor lift and fall protection training
  • Boom/scissor lift and fall protection training
  • Knowledge of BC Building Codes
  • Read and interpret blueprints and building plans
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Work as a team player with fellow co-workers, subtrades and consultants
  • Have attention to detail and good organization skills
  • Professionally represent the Company with excellent customer service skills
  • Be adaptable when working in tenant areas to minimize disruptions
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Can lift up to 50lbs and perform other physically demanding duties
  • Commit to ensuring a safe workplace
  • Punctual, reliable, dependable, and self-motivated
  • Able to commute to any of our site locations throughout the Metro Vancouver area
