Beedie Capital www.beediecapital.com is looking to add a Financial Analyst to its staff of market leading investment management professionals. Beedie Capital is the private investment arm of the Beedie Development Group.   Established in 2010, Beedie Capital engages in a range of diversifying investment activities across a variety of asset classes and industries, with a focus on growth capital. Investments can be structured as senior/subordinated debt, convertible debt and or minority/preferred equity. Beedie Capital invests in Canada and the US in both public and private companies.  Beedie Capital seeks to invest in companies, ownership groups and management teams that share the core corporate values of the Beedie Development Group www.beediegroup.ca. Beedie is an owner and developer of industrial and residential real estate. Beedie is the largest private industrial land owner, developer and landlord in Metro Vancouver, having completed 21 million square feet of new construction throughout British Columbia and Alberta.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Screening, diligence, and underwriting of new investments
  • Monitoring the existing portfolio of companies, including analysis and review of monthly financial statements and variance to forecast performance, compliance to contract, compliance to administration as well as staying current on investee company industry trends through timely research
  • Supporting fund composite performance analysis, including, but not limited to, maintaining investment and investee company IRR models inclusive of performing regression and statistical analysis, preparing infographics to show trends and comparisons between investee company data, aggregate fund data, benchmarks, targets, and other reference points
  • Aiding the preparation of various internal corporate accounting, compliance and reporting efforts
  • Aiding in the preparation of valuation and performance measurement reports
  • Maintaining, building and improving existing financial models
  • Other special projects and duties as required normal to an position of this nature

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Completion of an advanced finance and or an accounting designation (CFA, CA, CPA, MBA, CBV, or CAIA) and an undergraduate degree in Business, Math, Economics, or Engineering would be an asset
  • 2-5 years’ experience of full-time post-graduate work experience in financial modeling, commercial banking, investment banking, private equity, family office, capital markets and or financial services
  • Familiarity with general security agreements, loan agreements, share agreements and intellectual property would be an asset
  • Able to demonstrate advanced skill using Microsoft Excel for financial modeling and forecasting
  • High level computer skills and experience (Microsoft Office, Presentations, Statistics, and Graphs) 
  • Possess strong problem solving, analysis, benchmarking, investment report writing, and research skills
  • Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple deadline oriented tasks to timely completion
  • The ability to work independently and as a team member in an unstructured environment
